Can I just click one button and get candidates?

The “one-button” click to get candidates represents today’s broken hiring attempts. For many reasons, this transactional hiring model does not serve the employer or the candidate.

Why do I need to put so much time into this process?

There are lots of ways to conduct hiring today. They ALL require an investment in time.

For example, if your hiring efforts deliver the wrong candidate due to a lack of implementing a proven process, you will be investing significant time dealing with the repercussions of a failed hire.

If your hiring efforts hire someone who barely delivers value, either you or someone in your organization will be investing their valuable time doing the new hire’s job in addition to your existing responsibilities.

Investing your time in the process shows to the right candidate that you care about your business and you are committed to hiring the “right people”.

Investing your time into this process should mean that you are significantly increasing the likelihood that you will be making the right hiring selection.

I applied for a position on your site, but never heard back from anyone. What should I do next?

First make sure that you hit the submit button at the bottom of the apply here form. If you did hit the submit button and have not received a response, suggesting that you enter your information a 2nd time into Apply Here and include a note that this is your second attempt.

The Hiring Institute process is designed to avoid this issue.

Companies who are posting on The Hiring Institute have made an investment in this process and also have a critical need for a talented professional.

We would encourage you to make a second attempt with your application.

The application process asks me to agree to the salary range. If the price point is not in my range, but the position is intriguing, should I apply anyway?

The listed salary range is purposefully designed to filter in “qualified” candidates and filter-out candidates who will not be hired for this role. If you desire much higher earnings than listed in the detailed description, you should explore other opportunities that are a better fit.

As a Hiring Manager, we have created a detailed position description, as instructed and are not finding any qualified candidates to hire. Now what do we do?

This is where the Hiring Manager has to change the approach with different “levers”. Examples could include: Adjusting the compensation range, simplify some of the technical requirements, expanding the geographical scope or permitting qualified candidates to work virtually.

What is the difference between an ATS and the Hiring Institute?

An Automated Tracking System is software for keeping track of which candidate is at what phase or stage of a hiring effort. As a comparison to an ATS, The Hiring Institute provides a proven process oriented solution to hiring critical talent. Based upon the number of people being hired, an ATS could be a useful option for managing the candidates.

I don’t have the required degree (skill certifications) listed for the job posting. (Or the experience, etc.). Should I apply anyway?

The listed requirements are purposefully designed to filter in “qualified” candidates and filter-out candidates who will not be hired for this role. If you are lacking the qualifiactions listed in the detailed description, you should explore other opportunities that are a better fit.

Answering that dreaded question, whichever on it may be… (why are you leaving your current job, what makes you unique, tell me about a challenging situation and how you resolved it, what is one of your greatest weaknesses, a difficult work situation, what do you want to be when you grow up, etc.)

These type of questions are outdated. When a candidate is asked these questions, it is a good sign that the interviewer’s hiring attempts are stale. Since these types of questions come from the broken hiring attempts, perhaps the best advice is to research these questions on the internet where you will also find the recommend responses.
